The Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University

The Faculty of Agriculture is one of the fourth faculty when Kasetsart University was founded on February 2, 1943. Formerly named as Faculty of Kasetsart (Agriculture). It Comprises of 5 departments, including Department of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Department of Chemistry, Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, Department of Agricultural Engineering, offered only two courses, Diploma of Agriculture and a 3-year program of Animal Husbandry. The first dean was Phra Chuangkasetsinlapakan. After the official faculty founding, the Department of Biology was initiated, the Department of Chemistry was renamed to the Department of Physics and Chemistry on June 18, 1952. On May 16, 1956, it offered a master's degree, which was a Master's degree in Agricultural and Animal Husbandry program, Animal Husbandry Major and it is the first program of Kasetsart University. The Faculty of Kasetsart was renamed to the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry with one more department, the Department of Home Economics and the Department of Physics and Chemistry were renamed back to the Department of Chemistry. On March 9, 1966, the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry was renamed to the Faculty of Agriculture according to the Royal Decree prescribed the organizing of the university faculty, published on March 1, 1966. The reorganization resulted in 8 departments. In 1968, a 5-year program bachelor’s degree was changed to a 4-year program. The doctoral degree in the field of Entomology and Agronomy was offered for the first time in the academic year 1978. In 1979, the Faculty of Agriculture began teaching at Kamphaeng Saen Campus, Nakhon Pathom province. On November 8, 2522, the opening date of the second semester of 2521. By the undergraduate students in the third and fourth year of Bachelor of Science degree (Agriculture) to study at the Faculty at Kamphaeng Saen. Later, in 1985, the Faculty of Agriculture has a policy for first-year students of the Bachelor of Science degree (Agriculture) to study at the Faculty at Kamphaeng Saen. On March 18, 2003, the university has announced the separation of Faculty of Agriculture to the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen.
