Timeline of Kasetsart University

The Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University

The Faculty of Fisheries was founded with the establishment of Kasetsart University on February 2, 1943 with 4 disciplines including Fishery Biology, Fisheries, Fishery Products and Aquaculture. The first dean of the Faculty of Fishery is Professor Boon Indrambarya. The buildings and facilities of the Faculty of Fisheries were located on the south of Faculty of Forestry, which is presently the location of Field Crops Research. In 1958, the new building was constructed, facing the Phahonyothin Road. The Faculty of Fisheries then moved in since 1959. The building’s name is Phonlathep, named after Chao Phraya Phonlathep (Chalerm Komarakul Na Nakhon) who is the Minister of Agriculture during the reign of King Vajiravudh. In 1979, the faculty building was moved to Xujati Kambhu Road and the Department of the Fishery Products building was constructed nearby in 1986. From 1990-1993, the additional building was constructed nearby Vibhavadi Road using as the facility for the Department of Fishery Management, Department of Aquaculture, and Department of Marine Science. In 2001. The faculty received budget for the group os buildings construction of fish processing prototype factory, lecture hall and laboratory, located near Vibhavadi Road. The construction was completed in 2005. The Faculty of Fisheries then moved all the teaching and studying to the new location. The building’s name is Boon Indrambarya, named after Professor Boon Indrambarya, the first dean of the Faculty of Fisheries.
