Suwan Vajokkasikit Institute for Research and Development of Livestock and Animal Products
In 1989, Kasetsart University had the policy to centralize the research centers under Kasetsart University Research and Development Institute (KURDI) that shared similar mission and objectives. There were 2 main groups. One was focusing on plants and another was focusing on animals research. The plants research was called Insee Chandrastitya Institute for Plant Science Research and Development. The animal research was called Suwan Vajokkasikit Institute for Research and Development of Livestock and Animal Products, which was named after Luang Suwan Vajokkasikij who had been working on the animals research.Institute for Research and Development of Agricultural Systems in Crisis Areas was added after a while. The three institutes exist until the present Suwan Vajokkasikit Institute for Research and Development of Livestock and Animal Products was established on September 30, 1991. Its objectives were to increase the capability in research and development of livestock and animal products to meet the needs of society and the country in the future. There were supporting units in the total of 7 centers and 1 station, including Animal Nutrition Research and Development Center, National Swine Research and Training Center, Buffalo and Cattle Research and Development Center, Milk Production Research and Development Center, Small Ruminant Research and Development Center, Poultry Research and Development Center, Animal Product Research and Development Center, and Thap Kwang Research Station at Saraburi province.
