Phraya Atthakareeniphon, Kasetsart University 3rd Chairman of the University Council
Phraya Atthakareeniphon, formerly name was Sutthi Junnanon, was the 3rd Chairman of the Kasetsart University Council. (September 17, 1945 – January 24, 1946). He was born on June 29, 1895 at Wat Thong sub-district, Bangkok Noi district, Thonburi province, son of Mr. Tai Pen and Mrs. Soon Junnanon. He was married to Khun Ying Promprao Atthakareeniphon. He graduated from Debsirin School in 1912, completed the Law School, Ministry of Justice, in 1913, and completed the academic training for a barrister in 1917. In 1914, he served as a government service in the Ministry of Justice, the Director General of the Office of The Attorney General in 1941 and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior in 1945. In the late period of World War II, while he was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, he joined the Free Thai Movement. As a politician, he was the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Justice for many terms, was appointed to be a senator and other positions related to laws. He also the Ministry of Agriculture from September 17, 1945 – January 24 1946 during the 13th cabinet of Thailand when Mom Rajawongse Seni Pramoj was the Prime Minister. As he was the Ministry of Agriculture, he was the 3rd Chairman of Kasetsart University Council by position. One of his important duty was to join the committee of the University Act B.E. 2502 (1959) to transfer Kasetsart University, Chulalongkorn University, Thammasart University, and Silpakorn University to be under the Office of the Prime Minister’s supervision. Phraya Atthakareeniphon died on June 27, 1977.
