The Faculty of Economics, Kasetsart University

The Faculty of Economics born when the university was established on February 2, 1943, formerly known as the Faculty of Cooperative, offering a 3-year diploma degree. It focused on developing the human resources serving for working the Department of Cooperatives. The first dean was Khun Phra Bhijarnpanich, formerly the Director General of the Department of Cooperatives. The Faculty of Cooperative was located nearby Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram, Tha Tien, Bangkok. In the early days, there were four departments (1) The Department of Economics and Social Sciences (2) Department of Cooperatives (3) Department of Accounting (4) Department of Law. In 1952, Professor Phanthum Disayamonthon proposed a 4-year and a 5-year bachelor’s degree and renamed from Faculty of Cooperative to Faculty of Economics and Cooperative Science to provide and integrated curriculum to develop the human resources for various working fields. However, Field Marshal P. Phibunsongkhram, the then Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC), focused on the cooperative work and changed the name to Faculty of Cooperative and Economics in June 1952. There were 8 departments: (1) Department of Cooperatives (2) Department of Economics (3) Department of Agricultural Economics (4) Department of Accounting (5) Department of Law (6) Department of Foreign Languages (7) Department of Sociology (8) department duck Incontinence. In 1956, the faculty location was moved to Bangkhen and renamed to the Faculty of Economics and Cooperative Science. In 1963, the first studying building was constructed. It was a 3-story building and asked for permission to use the name “Bidyalangkarana”. In 1966, the was renamed again to be Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. Later in 1992, it was reorganized and divided into 2 faculties which are Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Business Administration.
