Research and Development of Agricultural Ecology Institute
Research and Development of Agricultural Ecology institute was initiated from the Faculty of Forestry under the Mae Nai Basin management research project at Doi Pui, Chiang Mai Province. It became the Doi Pui Research Station before the university decided to expand the research scope in 1990, and initiated “the Establishment Project of Research and Development of Agricultural Systems in Crisis Areas”.After that, it changed the name to “Research and Development of Agricultural Ecology Institute” and reorganized, according to the Kasetsart University Announcement on August 1, 2008, to have the Office of Secretary for Agricultural Ecology Systems Research Center and 4 research stations including Doi Pui Research Station, Petchaboon Research Station, Kanjanaburi Research Station, and Sitthiphorn Kritdakorn Research Station. It persisted on the same objective to improve the agricultural ecology, reduce the natural problem and develop the quality of life and better living of the farmers in rural areas under the Royal Initiative Project and the Royal Project Foundation. The first Director was Professor Pawin Poonnasri, who was the Director of the Establishment Project of Research and Development of Agricultural Systems in Crisis Areas. At present, the Research and Development of Agricultural Ecology Institute was demolished and transferred to be under the Faculty of Agriculture at Bangkhen and the Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen as the following details. On November 1, 2013, Doi Pui Research Station, Agricultural Ecology Systems Research Center, Petchaboon Research Station, and the Office of Secretary was transferred to be under the Faculty of Agriculture at Bangkhen. Kanjanaburi Research Station and Sitthiphorn Kritdakorn Research Station was transferred to be under the Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen. Associate Professor Dr. Sornprach Thanaisuanrayangkulr was the last Acting Director.
