Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University was initiated from the Asawarak Army Veterinary Corps School in 1913. Until the year 1935, the Veterinary Department was established in Chulalongkorn University, offering a 4-year program with Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.). Lieutenant Colonel Luang Chai Asawarak was the first head department. Later, the Veterinary Department, Chulalongkorn University, was transferred to be under the University of Medicine, Ministry of Health, and upgraded to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, with Lieutenant Colonel Luang Chai Asawarak was the first Dean. Moreover, on December 20, 1967, the act prescribed to transfer all operations; property, liabilities, government officers, government employees, and budget; related to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine located at Wangmai sub-district, Pathumwan district, Kasetsart University, to Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. However, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Kasetsart University located at Bangkhen remained the same. Special Professor Insee Chandrastitya, Kasetsart University President, invited the Director General of the Department of Livestock Development, Professor Dr. Chakr Pichaironarongsongkram, to be the first dean. In 1969, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s location was moved to the new building faced to Phahonyothin Road The building name was “ChakrPichaironarongsongkram building” in honor of Professor Dr. Chakr Pichaironarongsongkram. The faculty kept its progress and opened Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Kamphaeng Saen), Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Nong Pho), Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Hua Hin).
