Rajanagarindra Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies
Rajanagarindra Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies was established in 2000 by the collaboration of Kasetsart University and the Faculty of Humanities. The institution was established in order to honor and revere the grace of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Kromluang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra to the Kasetsart University and the nation in various fields, especially in language and culture. Kasetsart University considered that there had never been any operation in this area before. Therefore, the institute regarding language and culture was considered to be established. At the beginning of 1997, while the establishment project of the Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies was implementing, The Faculty of Humanities, therefore, asked for the permission and her consideration to granting the institute name and was bestowed with the name “Rajanagarindra Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies”.The Faculty of Humanities, therefore, proposed to the university to establish the institute. Until there was the resolution from the Kasetsart University Council Meeting 2nd / B.E. 2543 (2000) on February 28, 2000, as of the announcement of Kasetsart University Council dated March 20, 2000 to permit to establish the Rajanagarindra Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies. Due to the university policy to increase the academic service efficiency and gather the organizations that shared similar objectives, the Rajanagarindra Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies was then transferred to be the department under the Faculty of Humanities since October 1, 2010. The first Director of the Rajanagarindra Institute of Linguistics and Culture Studies was Associate Professor Dr. Jaisakran Hirunpruek.
