Mr. Charoon Suebsaeng, Kasetsart University 5th Chairman of the University Council

Mr. Charoon Suebsaeng was the 5th Chairman of the Kasetsart University Council. (August 24, 1946 – May 30, 1947). He was born on July 2, 1904 at Ar Noh Ru sub-district, Muang district, Pattani province, son of Khun Woravej Vichakij (Mr. Sui Suebsaeng) and Mrs. Aoon Suebsaeng. He completed his 2nd year of secondary school from Benjamarachutit School, Pattani province, 6th year of secondary school from Bangkok Christian College, 8th year of secondary school from Debsirin School. In 1923, He graduated bachelor’s degree, B. Sc. Agr., from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. Mr. Charoon Suebsaeng started his career in government service since November 1, 1928 as the Assistant to Director of Agriculture, Agriculture Department, Ministry of Agriculture. On December 21, 1937, he was appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture. On August 1, 1939, he was transferred to work as Chief Inspector, Customs Department and appointed the Director General of Customs Department from March 25, 1942 – September 17, 1943. He was appointed the Director General of the Royal Irrigation Department from September 18, 1943 – October 22, 1943, the Director General of the Railway Department from October 23, 1943 – February 9, 1945. He retired from the position at the Ministry and was appointed the Minister of Transport on September 19, 1945. Mr. Charoon Suebsaeng was appointed the Minister of Agriculture from August 24- 1946 – May 30, 1947, a member of the 17th cabinet with Rear Admiral Thawan Thamrongnawasawat as the Prime Minister. While being in the position the Minister of Agriculture, he was the Kasetsart University 5th Chairman of the University Council by position from August 24, 1946 – May 30, 1947. Mr. Charoon Suebsaeng had 5 children; 3 sons and 2 daughters, died on March 23, 1985.
