Faculty of Management Science Since the government set the policy on spreading the progress to all regions across the country. Each region had developed themselves to be a new economic area. As the ability and preparedness of the eastern coast, that policy may support and stimulate the expanding the production in industrial sector, the employment and promote the business, trading, tourist and service in the region, and to be the international business base of Thailand as well. For this reason, the government must accelerate the development of basic infrastructure, services and production base, and improvement of the human resources to meet the need of the local and regional sector, as well as to increase the capability of the labor force to work effectively in the higher-level operation. From the current potential and readiness of the Eastern Seaboard area, combined with the fundamental educational management and the responsibility for the education system towards national development, Kasetsart University foresaw the possibility to develop the Eastern Seaboard area within the educational scope and developed the project plan to establish the Faculty of Management Science at the Sriracha Campus, which was in the higher education level. This could increase the educational opportunity to meet the development of a new economic zone of the Eastern Seaboard area, which would finally benefit the nation's development. It aimed to develop the labor force for higher-level operation, increase the research work, and develop the capability in industrial business administration, commercial, hospitality, public management, and transportation management, focusing on the high demand labor force in the production sector and major economic system in regional and national level. After implementing as planned, the Faculty of Management Science had been approved and put in the Higher Education Development Plan during the 7th development plan period. It was established as the “Community College”. In 1996, the subcommittee considered setting up a new government sector in the higher education government institution and approved to upgrade the community college to the Sriracha Campus. The Kasetsart University Council gave the approval to establish the Sriracha Campus in the university council meeting 3rd/B.E. 2542 (1999) on March 15, 1999. The Faculty of Management Science had the objectives to accept those who graduated the high school from any region of Thailand, to increase the educational opportunity in the Eastern region. The first batch student of the Faculty of Management Science was enrolled in 1996. There were 3 study programs, which were management, marketing and tourism management. The first class was started on June 11, 1996. It aimed to produce a qualified graduate in the management field, which was the main factor in every business sector, to meet the economic expansion and labor force demand of the Eastern Seaboard area.
